I taught three groups of kids (2,4,7 grades) of about forty kids each
all about the art of henna for their school's art festival week. I
was an animated speaker, brought coloring pages of henna designs, and
brought henna and some dry tea mix for them to touch and smell, but I
left there with a bad feeling. All except the second graders were
just rotten lil' brats. The little kids asked all sorts of good
questions and the teacher was really glad I came; they started on
their coloring sheets right after I left. Maybe they thought I was
weird, who knows. Many of the kids at this school (private day
school) were from India or Pakistan and they were really eager to
talk to me about henna, even the little second graders. That made me
feel good; no "you can't do this art because you're American" type of
attitude. Kids are too young to know about that stuff anyway I guess.

I taught the classes for free because that's only right for a school
and all. They're having a jazz fest this weekend and have invited me
back to table that event. I'm going to be swarmed with kids wanting
henna! Definitely need to buy a bottle of new skin.
