: have any of you tried M D H henna powder from India?

Yes, I got mine from an Indian groc store; it was about a year old
when I purchased it. It was still bright green. Mixed with lemon juice
to cookiedough consistency and then with hot tea to application
consistency, it produced a deep mahogany stain on my palms, and dark
brown on top of hand & arms. The link below leads to an example on my
forearm, there's also my wife's palm at
http://mehndiman.org/gallery2001/0131maryjo/index.html (seen in the
photo above at 1 day after removal).

One thing I noted is that it stains *fast*. I drew a practice circle
on my palm and wiped it off within 10 seconds....and had an orange
circle on my hand which was visible for several days. The recipe there
was just the powder, bottled lemon juice and a couple of drops of euc.
oil.
