I definately have 'festival clothes.'
I wear pants since I'm often crawling around on the ground, the
dresses and skirts are pretty but I've found they hike up fast,
offering a different form of advertisement. I have different colored
silk pants, purple, red, black that I've gathered from thrift stores.
They are the kind with elastic waists and then wide flowing legs, not
unlike pajama pants. Some of these I've added wide decorative sequiney
embroidered things to the cuff. I use different pretty tops trying to
pay attention to the neck line, lots of time spent bending over so be
aware what people are seeing. Also be aware of how much sun you're
skin is recieving, I try and cover shoulders to minimize exposure.
I like to look nice and slightly ethnic but people are often put off
if you're dressed over the top and really funky or very ethnic. Often
people are experimenting with henna for the first time and if you look
too 'out there' or 'dirty' they'll pass you by. (I've had people
choose my booth for henna over others for this very reason and they
tell me about the other booth and how wierd or strange or not clean
the other booth is, strange and irrelevant to talent but I've
experienced this quite a bit.
I keep my hair back and usually add a bindi or little jewels by my
eyes, a little shimmery eye shadow when the mood strikes and always
barefoot with lots of mehndi
This works well for me, very comfy, pajama like ensemble. The black
pants are great since they don't show the henna smoodges and other
junk.
Hope this is helpful
Jessica
