Yes, all the horror stories are/can be true, about mixing henna and
chemical hair dyes. That being said, I'll tell you my experiences.

I used to regularly dye my hair twice a year: in late march, with
commercial dye, and in early august, with henna. I never had any
problems, and I have (well, had) pretty long hair (which is shorter
now due to a bad mood and scissors, not any hair dye thing :-P).
My hair type: I have oily hair with dry/damaged ends, which doesn't
hold color all that well or long... 16 years of hair dye will do that
to you. :-P

That being said, test first! I can't wait to get back to just henna,
I made "the no more hair dye" promise to myself, after thinking long
and hard about PPD and my scalp.

Zimra, who is grateful that you can use koolaid to dye funky
haircolors, just in case she gets the urge again. I wish they made
fuscia koolaid though! (you can actually mix koolaid to get various
colors... check out the koolaid FAQ!
