I had that problem with chemical dyes... my friends called my bathroom decor "slaughterhouse red" because of all the red dye stains! Usually henna is much less stain-y than chemical dyes. You can keep your hands clean by wearing gloves (buy the latex or vinyl medical gloves, they're great) and do the usual petroleum jelly application around your face and ears (I just use regular moisturizer, and I try to keep my ears wiped clean... and I try not mind that they will be orange for a few days! :-) It's really best to henna your hair outside, though your neighbors may think you're bonkers. Much less goo to clean up outside! For inside I have several large towels (hint: buy a few at thrift stores for cheap) that I use to cover my bathroom floor and sink area. Even then I have to police the area, because I will manage to get henna everywhere, I think it moves on its own! Happy hennaing, Zimra
