just a little something interesting on henna historyPosted by samantha on May 17, 2001 at 12:04:21: For all you folks out there who are information hunters (like me) Ihave a friend who is an archologist. I asked her if she had any info on the use of henna in ancient egypt. This is her reply henna? found used to stain the fingernails on mummies for instance.. Ani a loved servant buried in Thebes end of xv111th dynasty and a loved singer Tutu member of the college of singers of Amen ra both found with henna stained fingernails. Both came from honoured families who had served kings always , so had good funerals. slits made in fingers and toes and stuffed with sweet spices and natron and sewn up again..then fingernails and toenails stained with henna. also found in hair remains..since it has softening properties . Sometimes a winding sheet is found stained with saffron and or henna Any questions for her let me know
