I have blonde hair and haven't tried hennaing it because I know it'd
just be orange, but here are some ideas.

When you've hennaed your hair before, when it got all greasy
afterwards, did you put the henna on when your hair was clean or when
it needed washing? you might want to try and experiment with that to
determine whether or not you should wash your hair beforehand or let
it go unwashed for a day or two before hennaing it.

I know it is stinky, but an apple cider vinegar wash poured over your
hair and then rinsed with cool water will restore your hair's pH,
maybe not make it quite so slippery. One part vinegar to eight parts
water, tone it down or rev it up depending on your preference. Buy a
bottle of distilled water from the store and mix it up with that.

Also, with regards to this wrapping stuff it might be a good idea to
get someone to help you, I know I couldn't handle all that by myself,
what a mess!
