Sudan Henna

I don't know where in California you are but if you can find an
Ethiopian grocery store or market and ask for "heena" supplies, you
may be able to find Sudanese henna. I found it rather expensive
though, because by the time I sifted all the dirt out there wasn't a
whole lot left. It comes in a white pouch with blue arabic writing
on it, around 5.99 for maybe 100 gms? However it does produce a
really dark stain. It says "henna from Sudan, imported by Saudi
Arabia" on the pouch. I wonder if it was really from sudan, since I
have been told that iranian henna is often repackaged as being
from "saudi arabia" in order to sell it in western markets.
