The first wedding that I did (last
: month, April), I was really nervous when I started on the brides
: first hand, only because a whole bunch of her (East Indian)
relatives
: were poring over us watching.

My experience with bridal henna was just similarly nervewracking.
The family was conservative and jewish, but the daughter and bride to
be was far from stuffy, she was getting her master's degree in
ancient religions or something and knew all about henna. Anyway her
mom and dad, the ones paying for my services, hovered over me at the
kitchen table for the first twenty minutes or so. I kept messing up
and it was a while before I could get centered and get into my henna
groove. I finally told them they were making me nervous and could
they please go do something else. They were making the bride
nervous, too, so at that time I thought it best just to come right
out and tell them. This was the first time that being watched while
I henna someone really bugged me. Normally I'm used to it ya know?
