Almost everyone who asks about my hand and the art thereon is under
the age of 15. Most of them are in kindergarden, first grade, third
grade and fifth, and the way most of them ask is, "What's that thing
on your hand?" or "Is that a real tattoo?"

I usually reply, "It's henna and it's from the Middle East." If they
have questions (most of the younger ones do), I give a brief history;
if it fits in with that day's lesson plans, I work it in, also. They
usually want me to do it to them (or teach them - the fifth graders
are rather independant). I'm still working on a workshop at the
local library - maybe this summer.

So I guess my advice is to introduce the art and let the conversation
flow from there. Kinda a zen thing.
