There are some alternate translations and meanings, other than "Hail
to the Jewel in the Lotus", though that's the one I've found most
often. The Buddha is often referred to as the Jewel, enlightenment
may be the jewel, or the jewel in the lotus may be a metaphor for sex,
depending on whom you ask.
