The fair sounded fun...too bad I wasn't visiting (tho we made decent
money here)
I have not yet done a festival where most people are darker-skinned
than my own shade of pale, it being Seattle after all, but I think
I'd use the exact same approach you did. Palm designs look really
lovely in contrast and if people can understand that, then we're
doing our job.

: am working on them so they have something to occupy them. Also, we
: pamper our customers, hang out with them, joke with them, keep any
: eye on them, carry their bags if they want to change seats etc. We
: are there to answer their questions about henna and aftercare.

We do all the same stuff and even sometimes offer treats. It is
tiring to deal with hundreds of people, but worth it I think to give
them an experience that honors henna's traditions.

: Getting rid of my page of $5 designs is the best thing I ever did.
: When people see that price they assume that these are temporary
: tattoos, but my higher minimum price shows that we are doing
: something a little more special...wait, a lot more special!

Yeah! You go girl! See, I told you ;)...
What's really fun are doing some of Catherine's big and challenging
things, charging accordingly, and having the design come out better
than you thought you could do!

Also,
: the higher prices encourages people to make sure their design
doesn't
: smudge.

Yep - especially if you charge for re-dos, as we have been!

: Keep up the good work Anne, I'm paving the way for you in NYC!

Thanks - I am loking forward to visiting you, Boy Wonder, and whoever
else in mid-June!

Anne
