Henna, The Joyous Body Art: Video ... 115 minutes of solid henna history and traditionsPosted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on June 3, 2001 at 16:22:01: "Henna, the Joyous Body Art" is ready from Godolphin House now.. Thelink to order it is below: (left side of the page) It's not available from me directly, (I'm not selling it) you have to get it from Godolphin House Publishing , email school@citynet.net PO Box 297 (Henna) Hinton, WV 25951-0297 304-466-2613 or 800-407-6660 fax 304-466-1353 It's $19.95 retail, add $3 shipping and handling to total $22.95 , and they wholesale it too. They do Visa and MC. I'm not certain it's kosher to review a movie wherein the camera is on me for nearly all of the 115 minutes (eeeeaugh)and for which I did all the writing, but here's my rant on it. If you ever wanted to sit in my henna parlor or at Sirius Rising and hear me talk nonstop about the traditions of henna back to the neolithic period ..... and every last thing I go into here is fully researched, backed up in four part harmony with bibliography, and verification in artifact and written evidence.... this vid will do the job for you! Its primo henna traditions back to the source. It's probably be a very decent seller in your henna business! Anyone on the forum will probably want to fast forward through the first part about mixing, (cos you already know all that) and go straight to the history part. Gavin, who shot and put this together seemed to think that mixing belonged at the front rather than the back, and it's his company .... so be it. This is NOT a professional quality video. Godolphin House doesn't have that level of production company. The henna information is absolutely my best, but the shooting, printing and editing .... well ... some of it would make Ed Wood turn in his angora sweater. If you can deal with some aspects of this production eclipsing "Plan 9 from Outer Space" .... I think you'll like it. It'll certainly keep me humble if I'm ever famous. Zimra looks lovely dancing at the beginning ... the henna on her hands had a good dose of Tea Tree oil, and is gonzo dark and pretty behind her zills ..... and the assortment of hennaed hands looks very nice. Tell Mr, De Mille, though, that in the rest of my lifetime, I will probably NEVER be ready for a close-up ... the farther back that camera is from my face, the better I look! Last year, at Sirius Rising, I was talking with Jeremy, "Wouldn't it be great if someone would shoot a proper instructional video of these henna lectures", and within 24 hours, the Godolphin folks came by and said, "We'd like to shoot a video of your henna lectures". The goddess is alive and magic is afoot! Especially with these folks. I've been friends with them for over a decade ..... and I always enjoy visiting them.
