I have heard many stories of people getting tattoos of chinese
characters and then finding out that the meaning was completely
different, even embarassing.

Also, my husband worked for a company that makes t-shirts with cute
sayings on them (like "boys lie" and "make him beg"). They also make
t-shirts with chinese characters on them that supposedly say things
like "whore" and "bitch" and "nice girl". The only problem with them
is that the characters are reversed...the person who designed the silk
screen didn't realize that you have to mirror the image. In enlish it
would have been obvious, but in Chinese it was all gibberish to him
anyway. I have heard similar stories about tattoos as well because
tattoo stencils also must be made into a mirror image befor
