: Twice now I have been approached to work in a salon under
: freelance??!! terms and asked to leave my portfolio which I have
: refused due to copyright etc etc I feel it is just to easy for
people
: to just make a copy- am I paranoid??

-----Maybe a little! I think you will eventually have to leave a
copy of your work so they can judge you but if you want to remind
them of copyright issues without being a bitch, just print copyright
info at the bottom of each page, or put it in larget letters on the
inside cover of your portfolio.

: Twice now the same person has gone in after the job when I have
been
: offered it and has bad mouthed me etc etc how do you deal with it.
: my first instinct is to just ignore and think that they are the one
: with the problem but then the problem is how do you put a stop to
it.
: I do not have any communication with this person but she knows of
me
: through some one else
: Any one have any ideas before I end up doing time!!!

---I think that the best way to short-circuit this person is to say
nice things about them when booking gigs, talkin to clients, asking
for freelance work etc. That way if she says anything bad about you,
it makes her look really petty and childish. Saying bad things about
the competion makes one look petty and childish anyway...we have a
lot of experience with it here in the US during political campaigns.
The party that doesn't go negative ends up looking better and getting
the votes.

----The other thing you could try is recommend her for a
job...essentially co-opt her. Maybe she will understand the everyone
benefits from sharing expertise and jobs etc.
