"My dear Holmes : ....." (actually Sherlock is the name of my pugdog and he's not saying : much). Catherine as you know my mix and henna usage relies on the stain being as quick as possible....reports from last year coming in that this does last for sometimes 4 weeks which is fantastic...most people 2 weeks if they are lucky depends what they get up to. Have noticed that the quality deteriorates rapidly, once mixed i use immediately....dont leave it more than the time it takes me to get to the studio. Before even 24hours is up the quality of stain has began to go therefore i have to mix a fresh batch every day...you can see the stain release quite clearly the paste goes from a green color to a dark black/brown color on a busy day you can see this by 11pm on a paste that has been mixed 8am Such is the power of the terpine!.....i think it also depends on the henna too....as some crops are more better than others the stain release can be somewhat overwhelming thus resulting in you having a amount of dud paste as its released its dye to fast!
