That's awful, Erfan!! Sorry you had to go through that. Islam
prohibits permanent tattooing but I KNOW for sure that henna is
allowed as adornment. I am a Muslim myself and I have henna on my
body as much as I'd like to. As far as I know, many women in Mecca
(Muslims' holiest land) have henna done. I know this for certain from
stories told by people who have been there. I've never had any
negative remarks from other Muslims because of my henna. Even my late
dad (who was a religious teacher) thought it's beautiful. I do avoid
incorporating Allah's name in my patterns though (personal choice).

I tend to agree with Kenzi that maybe this misinformed person (who
stubbornly chose to stay ignorant) thinks it's a woman's thing. What
do you think of that?

Anyways, I hope you will get to see Iran, it would be a shame if you
can't make it because of this. Good luck, Erfan !!
