In reply to: Didn't the Prophet (pbuh) recommend the use of henna? posted by Lauren on June 15, 2001 at 18:22:21:

Of course the Prophet and all of his wives used henna.

However, there are two objections raised about henna in present day
Iran ... one is that henna has pre-Islamic pagan origins, which is
absolutely true. The other is that henna is tied to sexuality and the
enjoyment of life and love, which is also true.

Some people feel that pre-Islamic pagan practices have no place in
Islam, and that sensuous pleasure is a distraction from devotion.

Islam is a practice open to interpretaion by the individual.

Some individuals feel that devotion to spirit requires
eschewing the pleasures of being alive. Others embrace the vast
experience that is life, love and all the generations that have gone
before.

God mostly lurks on the forum that is life ... though many people
insist they speak in his behalf.

Then ..... there are petty beaurocrats.
