Green is NOT a reliable indicator of qualityPosted by Catherine Cartwright Jones on June 18, 2001 at 14:29:35: In reply to: Jamila henna....Green vs Khaki posted by Kim on June 18, 2001 at 06:41:07: Well ... the simple explanation is that the people who insist thatgreen is the only indicator of quality are just plain wrong. I've seen very green (even undyed) hennaes that were from a punk crop and didn't stain worth a damn. I've gone through plenty of not especially green henna that was fantastic! Is every bright red apple good to heat? No. Is every not bright red apple bad? No. Some odd colored apples taste far better than those picture perfect ones. As henna has quickly become popular, there have been many people with a *little* knowledge who set themselves up as experts .... and have even gone to press with some serious misinformation. Other misinformation has come from wholesalers who dump green dye into their henna to sell it to people as PRIMO when it is actually PUNKO. Scent is a pretty good indicator of quality ... hard to define, though. There's an incredible rich sexy live smell to the good stuff.
