Carrot bags- need details of use

I tried a carrot bag over the weekend and I think I like it, but I am
having difficulties in the shape of the lines. I have in the past
used either Jacquard bottles or made my own cones, and the line comes
out round. With the carrot bag, I had issues getting around the seam
which was about the same size as the hole I used. Also, since the
bag was stored flat, instead of a round hole, I got an oblong which
gave me a ribbon effect held parallel to my hand or held at right
angles it came out taller than it was wide. Is there a way to get a
round line which won't drag in the seam?
