The heat is onPosted by Kim on June 20, 2001 at 06:08:05: Time and time again I've read here on the forum that heat, moisture, acid and really good henna are the keys to great stains. Here in Dante's Inferno, aka Houston, I get plenty of humid heat and I have several good henna powders that have given very nice stains. But, I was looking for a way to get a faster stain so I tried something different. I made my paste using Jamila, tea tree oil and lemon juice and let it sit 12 hours. I applied my design to the back of my hand and up my wrist, latexed and went to bed. Got up and worked out for 30 minutes (got nice and sweatty) and removed the paste. I had a very nice toffee color which was a little darker along the fingers. Later that evening I went over part of the design again to even out the color and latexed. I really didn't want to sleep in it again (I always lose sleep worrying about smudging the design) so I dug out the heating pad (I've never used it before for henna) and loosely wrapped my hand and watched an hour of VH1. I removed the paste and.... I was stunned to see the color was twice as dark...after only 1 hour! Wow, I can't tell what a surprise that was. No more sweating under heavy blankets and layers of wrapping for me. I looks like dry heat works just as well as humid heat. My mom isn't getting that heating pad back anytime soon. Just wanted to share, Happy hennaing to everyone Kim
