I agree with Lauren about booth set up, something colorful but simple
is great. I got a gazebo for $40 and that was a great investment. It
all fits in one smallish box and sets up quickly. You can get these
gazebos at any place like Kmart, Rite Aid, Walmart or your local
equivalent. They are usually 10' x 10'. They are usually white but
you can drap fabric around them and over them to spice them up. I
also have two folding tables to lay books out on, and I also have a
bunch of folding chairs (the sling type are great: easy to pack and
very comfortable). I usually work with 1-2 other henna artists so I
have to have at least one chair per artist plus one chair for the
client each artist is working on. At the link below you can see an
image of our booth and set up.

One thing I think is really, really, really important, is to have
someone else you are working with. Whether it is a friend tokeep you
company or another henna artist, just get someone. From the sound of
it, the fair you are attending is quite large and if only 1% of the
people want henna that is 300 people! It's hard to imagine until
youhave experienced it but it is very hard to work in conditions like
this without a helper. You will find yourself hennaing someone while
people are asking you questions about henna ("does it come in
different colors?", "how long does it last?", "how much does it
cost?", "does it hurt?" etc. and over and over and over again). You
will have to stop hennaing to answer these questions and then go back
to hennaing, refocusing your concentration on your work. When you are
hennaing you are using one part of your brain but when you answer
questions, give prices, chase flying pages etc. you switch to another
side of your brain. It is difficult and exhausting to keep switching
back and forth. I go into a kind of trance while hennaing and can't
answer questions like "what time is it" with an kind of coherency.

Also, an assistant can help with aftercare, lemon-sugaring, wrapping,
taking money etc. An assistant who can do everything but henna is
INVALUABLE! Beg someone, pay someone, offer to pay them with henna,
blackmail someone but get help.
