Mixing metal with henna?

I remember back when I used a packaged henna on my hair, the
instructions said not to use metal bowls or implements. How come? I
see some companies use a silver bowl and I know that different wires
are traditional. I've never noticed a difference with metal,
plastic, or whatever.
