As has been mentioned, mehandi oil is usually a combination of oils.Although it could be rubbed on a completed mehndi pattern (after the
paste has been removed), I think the main purpose is to add a couple
of drops to your henna paste to change its consistency and possibly
produce a darker stain, depending which specific oils are in
the "mehandi oil."
