: Oh the art of intense studying and the results that it brings
: along...i basically believe that no-one has gone into it this much
to
: find out....for all my henna years clove oil was always recommended
: to me due to its properties making the henna darker....however
no-one
: knew what these properties where!....kinda magik of clove oil thingy
: going on....no real research into why.

I think some people KNEW which constituents were the right ones ...
may not have known WHY, but they had observed what worked, at the very
least. There are paintings depicting intensely dark henna, clear back
to the bronze age. (I've been trying to figure out how henna was so
dark in the 15th c in Persia, well up past the ankles ... and this may
be the answer.... adding a distillate of Frankincense and perhaps
other stuff.) Perhaps this has been discovered many times, but as a
women's art, particularly being done in Africa, the Middle East and
South Asia .. the intelligence behind it was simply ignored, and there
was no chance of getting it written down and freely exchanged.

Unfortunate things like that got lost ... but with enough digging, the
history, traditions and science of this women's art may yet be
recovered. That's my infatuation anyway....

Also ... the principles MUST be known by SOME people because there
are some quick darkening pre-made pastes on the market now ... and
they've got very characteristic smells. But, instead of sharing the
info openly, it became a profitable secret.

What fun is that?

Anyway .... at this point, the info is out there, and getting shared.
