: We've found lots of stuff that nukes henna to black- is there an
oil
: that will redden it similarly? I want candy-apple colored henna!
: I've seen it, I know it's possible.
: Also, I just bought some of the Castle Art stuff, some of the foil
: packet and some of the Jamila. Which is redder?

I've heard that cloves or tamarind will tend to redden the color.
Really, though, candy-apple red only comes from extremely fresh henna
or direct from the actual plant. (I've had it close to real red once,
from henna brought over from India for me)
I know I've seen red-red in dried henna from Iran (Catherine had
some at one point), Mecca (or was it Medina? Jewel had it) and on the
travel channel from Turkey. But I'm betting all these hennas were
local and very fresh.

I think Jamila tends to be more red than the other CA henna.

Zimra, currently mixing some jamila herself.
