carrot bags

I have tried the carrot bags and they are really neat. however, I am
having trouble getting it cut just right to get a really fine line.
Does anyone use the pastry tips and how do they fit with the bag?
inside? They sure are easier on the hands, but I am yet to dominate
them totally.
