Oh how true! My first experience was with a tube of Shelly premixand I was so disappointed I gave up on henna entirely. I figured
that the recipes were so closely guarded that I would never get my
hands on them and never be able to do it myself.
I finally ventured to try the henna powder I got from Morocco. It
was a year old and I mixed it with alcohol (I have no idea why I
thought that this was how it was done!) and I got great color. I did
a simple checkerboard pattern in my palm and was ECSTATIC when it
actually worked. I have never looked back, except in mild amusement.
