I did the black pepper thing, boiling a handful of it in my
mordant... and it definately stung. It wasn't an unbearable sting,
just a hot itchy feeling. No redness or swelling though. I think it
did make the henna darker, as the stain was one of the darkest i have
ever gotten on the back of my hand. This was in late october or early
november, so heat was definately not an issue. I used Kenzi's henna.
