Like any herb, henna degrades with light, heat, and exposure to air.
If wrapped tightly in plastic and then something opaque, it will
easily keep for up to a year and probably longer. I keep the henna I
sell in the fridge for the most part, because I need quick and
frequent access, and I don't notice any lessening of potency over a
couple months. Mixed paste can be frozen also, but I'm told it can't
be refrozen without losing power. Freezing and thawing it once
doesn't seem to harm it much.
