Re: Cajeput heaven!!Posted by Alissa on July 10, 2001 at 15:36:28: In reply to: Re: Cajeput heaven!! posted by Cheryl on July 10, 2001 at 15:04:48: : : I finally got to see the results of cajeput-enhanced henna and: : WOW!!!! The color is really gorgeous and deep, dark, chocolate : : cherry. It looks good enough to eat. What is even more amazing is : : that the older the cajeput-henna paste, the better the stain (up to : a : : certain limit, I am sure). I had a design on the back of my hand : : with three-day old paste (that had been sitting open in the sun and : : air and heat) and after two hours it gave a really nice dark stain : on : : a hard to stain place. The henna done on my friend's hands was : done : : with the same three-day old paste left on overnight and the color : was : : magnificent. She could have left it on for 3 hours and it probably : : would have been just as nice. She was assisting me at a wedding : two : : days after application so her henna was at its absolute best and it : : sure made us look good! : : : : Leaving the paste on for 20 minutes on the back of my hand yielded : so- : : so results, but it was so much better than non-cajeput henna which : : wouldn't have shown up at all. The only drawback to all of this is : : that I can't make any mistakes because it has already stained by : the : : time I whip out my toothpick to correct it! It can only make me a : : better henna artist! : : : : Long live the cajeput tree! : : : Oddly enough, I had similar results with "old" henna paste and : frankincense oil. It was exciting to find that 3 or 4 day old paste : could have an extended lifespan with great results! I can't wait to : experiment with cajeput. I had the same response with frankincense and old paste. And, what I noticed was when I added the frank. and used the paste right away, very little darkening occurred. I threw it in the freezer for a couple days, then pulled it back out with the intention of doodling a bit on my foot and then throwing the "bad batch" away. Something came up at the last minute and I couldn't finish the foot design, so I wiped it off -- thinking well bad henna and only 10-15 minutes on w/no L/S, it will hardly take the stain. Well, the foot design took the stain immediately! Several days later, the stain is still there! Surprising results I thought I'd share to see if anyone else noticed the time-lapse effect as well.
