I find that the number one thing that makes or breaks henna is the freshness. It absolutely must be fresh enough to have dye available to be released. The second thing is time. It must be left on long enough to really get a hold on your skin. I had boring light orange for so long, then I found the stuff I sell now, and that's what made me go into business. Now I get so many people writing me wanting to know why their henna turned out yucky and mine is lovely dark, I put up a page about henna troubleshooting at my website. I welcome feedback about this!
