A NYC gathering doesn't: have to take the place of the SW event. I think the main issue that : attracted me was the idea of a gathering with folks from here to put : faces to names and talk and do henna. NYC also opens a world of : other possibilities for other things to do while there about or not : about henna. But preferably henna related fun things to do in the : city. The thought also of a henna event in the winter down time when : the soul is weary and could use such a gathering gave me warm : fuzzies. And a totally selfish thought was that it would of : necessity be held "inside" where I love to do henna surrounded by : creature comforts of music, a fireplace, hot tea, incense burning and : the promise of a long hot bath waiting just for me. Yes, there is SO much to do in NYC! And it is great for henna related activities too. There is Jackson Heights, which i describe as "India and Queens," there are tons of little import shops and other fun things to do. The last time i was in NYC it was November, and the snow was falling lightly in SoHo... It was freezing, but really nice too to get into a warm shop and toast a bit every once in a while! : : If the existing henna artists association is defunct then I would : also like to discuss the possibilities...ins and outs and : wherewithalls...connected to starting a chapter or seperate : association. Seems like a lot of research could be done prior to the : gathering and some time spent together pulling all of what has been : gathered together in a form suitable to make decisions about : possibilities and next steps if any. I just LOVE Jeremy's idea on this... i hope we can get somethng going. It really would be entirely useful. : : But, I just love NYC in the winter. It is one place I love to be and : look outside my window to watch the big snow flakes falling down on : the grey slush and cars and neon lights. (All the while knowing that : there are 10,000 other things always going on outside if I wanted to : go out and join in.) I'd love to browse the stores and walk the : streets in NY this winter with my fresh henna designs cozy and warm : inside my gloves. Fresh henna on both of my hands at the same time : will be a new and unique experience for me. I hope that is a : given...everyone will leave with both hands hennaed. Hey, that seems : to me to be an important enough purpose to gather. It can be : the "Will Somebody PLEAZE Henna My Other Hand!!!" weekend. I'm game : and will start saving now to get myself and my henna there. Yay! My other hand hasn't been hennaed by somebody who isn't me since last summer! I did manage to do a few left handed designs between then and now, but they were truly more of a hassle than hennaing should be! I think this is definately an awesome idea, and you can count me in 100%! Let's get the ball rolling..... : : About the e'zine...wonder what help Jeremy could use to get this : underway again. Catherine has said that he is very busy right : through here so knowing the ways he could use our help to keep this : alive might be a starting point. Yes, i'd like to help too... just let us know if anything needs doing! ~Nick
