How about parchment papers?

A good parchment paper might be something to try (office supply
stores usually have it with their resume papers). I also do
calligraphy and LOVE working with parchments because the inks
typically do not bleed because of the low "rag content". The colors
available range from bright white to golds and browns, any of which
would look great with henna. I'll see if I have any lying around at
home and see how well it takes henna.
