Jessica : I haven't had my paste get grainy, but then I usually don't strain : after mixing, but before. We use cake-decorating tubes, not : j-bottles, and find it way easier to sift the henna (the fred-o- matic : is neat, but pantyhose work ok too) then strain the lemon, tea : mixture, etc.
