: I think that most if not all of the suppliers listed here have non-
: dangerous stuff, so on a physical level, they're fine.
:
: BUT if the average Jane thinks that henna is supposed to be black,
: she may not accept the real stuff. This is a bummer for those of
us
: that only use the real henna, but that's the way business runs, so
I
: can deal with that. Where I get concerned is that if she gets it
: black once and it's safe, she will not think twice about letting
: other people apply black to her, and they may not be using anything
: so friendly. I believe that anyone who helps get Jane into this
: situation is partially responsible for and to her.
:
: This is different if it is not presented as henna. Call it body
art
: or temporary tattoo and hopefully she'll be able to tell the
: difference.
: Just my opinion

I agree with you Lauren -- although I'm sometimes tempted to add
a "safe" black henna into my biz b/c folks want it, I won't just b/c
it's too hard to expalin to clients why the stuff I'm using is safe,
while issuing a dire warning to avoid it at all costs from others.
It's just hypocritical, to me at least.

I make it a point to mention the dangers of PPD black henna every
time I paint or lecture (captive audience, where they gonna go when I
got their foot/hand etc) and show them my black henna page with color
photos from CCJ's site on PPD. If I scare the bejesus outta them,
wouldn't it be strange for me to whip out a tube of black stuff
myself? (Note: the PPD page is at the very back of my book, and most
clients don't make it that far when choosing a design, which makes me
feel like, well, they won't freak out about all henna after seeing it
and decide they don't want to be henna-ed after all.)
