Yeah, Jeremy, I see the problem. What if instead of having to test
the products of each supplier, that instead they had to make a "PPD
Free Henna Pledge" to be included on the Where page and agree to
submit henna for testing when requested. And then periodic testing
of henna from randomly selected suppliers on the page could be done.
Not knowing when or if their henna was the one being tested might
keep some people more honest. Also visitors to the page could be
asked to report back any sightings of "Black Henna" or "PPD"
ingredients in products on any of the web pages of the suppliers
included on the "Where" page. Then you would not have to police the
suppliers pages but would just check out the sites that you get
sighting information on. The issue with Navaid is trickier. But if
the forum advocates only natural henna...are there other suppliers as
well that sell colored henna. I know the issue is more with
Navaid's "Black Henna" because it dredges up the images of PPD. But
it seems that any henna with some additional additive that changes
the color from the oranges through burgandys have added something and
perhaps should not be on the Where page. Perhaps on another page
(all of these pages) of presumed safe but not necessarily recommended
alternatives citing the reasons they are not necessarily
recommended. That would be a step up from the vast wasteland page
with the serious disclaimers where any supplier could post anything.
I guess I am thinking that when someone refers to the people who come
to this site to look for sources to buy henna as akin to
suppliers "shooting fish in a barrel" that maybe it shouldn't be so
easy and certainly there should be some indication for buyers to know
what bullet to dodge. And the "We Recommend or Endorse" vs
the "Take your own chances" pages would make a distinction that
buyers would understand even if they chose to ingore it.

Maureen (p.s. You would not have to do all of that follow-up on BH
and PPD sightings either. I am sure you could get folks here to
assist in this and get the info to you. There are some of us around
with a little time on our hands who would be willing to pitch in.)
