: What is mahlabiyah oil? can I buy different oils and mix my own?
: Where could I buy it? Info. would be great!

Mahalabiya...its a blend of oils with a perfume added to get the
unique smell....its smells quite different without the perfume....i
dton know what the perfume is but as i understand it Mehalabiya is a
mix of the following:

Camphor
Eucalyptus
Clove
Frankincense

To get it to smell nearly mehalabiya ish...you will have to vary the
quantities of each one....a little clove oil is the best way to
start...to much and you cant get rid of the smell without adding a
few gallons of the others! Frankincense smell almost mehalabiya ish
without anything being added to it....so perhaps this is the perfume.

This info was from the suppliers in Bombay where we get our
mehalabiya from.....

Word of warning though is that Mehalabiya comes in grades of
quality...poor quality smells like 50% terpentine...which would not
be good to use!....good stuff comes in at roughly $25 per
litre.....where to buy!....good question....you cant....short of
going to India or preferably Sudan (Mehalabiya is Sudanese in origin)
you cant get it....so find yourself a henna supplier in Sudan and
ask!....the only company i know that sells this is hennagold. However
they have a minimum order, are quite rude and ripped me off sending
me a kilo of henna powder which i reckoned was freshly swept up from
the floor.
