really liked the tea treePosted by Willowhawk on July 23, 2001 at 06:11:31: In reply to: Tea Tree vs. Cajeput posted by Nick on July 22, 2001 at 22:51:35: I haven't tried Cajeput yet. I have some ordered, and btw, am tryingto work out a deal w/ my friend so that she can offer some of our 'henna' oils at a really (and I mean REALLY) good price. Anyhoo, I like the tea tree (MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA) and I really liked how it kicked up the color. Dark stains and fast. Cajeput is another Melaleuca (leucadendra), and my botanical friend has told me it's White Tea Tree. I used Tea Tree in a few batches recently, and the design I did on a friend turned, as she termed it, black. I didn't see it until 2 weeks later when she had at least 1/2 the pattern still there and it did look black. I had done the palm and fingers of her hand, and she works in a hospital and has to wash her hands several times a day. I really like the tea tree, but as soon as I get my cajeput I will try that. Then as soon as Catherine gets back, I'll try whatever discovery she has made at Sirius. I mixed a batch this weekend w/ just lemon and henna powder and the results are fine, but w/ the tea tree, the hard to stain places on my own skin took better. Blessings, Justine Willowhawk : Hi, : Went to the local Bread & Circus today on a mission for cajeput, and : whadaya know, they don't have it! So i bought the closest thing, : which was tea tree... I know Catherine said it stinks, but i actually : don't mind the smell. It reminds me of camphor. : So-- a question for you all: did anybody try both tea tree and : cajeput, and if so, did one work better than the other? : Peace and love to all sentient beings, : ~Nick
