Everyone does things differently here - that's part of the beauty of
this forum - trading ideas and learning from one another. I'm
certain that Darlahood meant no harm or offense - she was simply
expressing her preferences. As for me, well, I "doodle" a lot and
found that helped a bit, but I started out trying to use transfers
too. It didn't take long for me to decide that they were almost more
trouble than they were of help to me. I ended up "compromising" by
using old henna paste and tracing the transfers on paper just to get
used to the feel of the cone and henna paste. After I got a feel for
the paste and cone (and later jacquard bottle), I decided to try
freestyle. The key is to remember that your designs don't HAVE to
look just like someone else's and that they probably won't - even if
you do the same one time after time, it will still vary just a bit
each time. Just relax and have fun with it. Just my two cents worth.
