Stain, stain, go away...!

What is it about this stuff? When you want it to stay, all thelotion/oil in the world won't make it stay... and when you want it to
go, all the scrubbing and alpha-hydroxy lotion in the world won't make
it go!
What are your preferred methods for expediting the disappearance of a
design? How long does it take to fade a design using it?
(Understanding that length of time will vary by how deep / old the
stain is...)
