New to henna and wanting to try mixing it on my own

Hello all, I hope this little note finds everyone well. I've nosedaround this site for awhile now, reading postings, and information,
gleaning ideas for my own designs from the ones posted and so on.
I've been using primarily pre measured kits and such so far, found
that I really like the Earth Henna kits, but I'm ready to graduate to
mixing my own paste and experimenting with that. If any of you have a
favorite recipie or some tips or advice to give me I'd be glad to
hear from you! I've bought a few books and things and just bought
some of the ingredients for the recipies in one of the books, but
since you all do henna more than I do and have and since I can
communicate with you and not a book I figured I'd ask. I'd be glad to
