Virus informationPosted by Baron on July 25, 2001 at 18:29:09: In view of the number of warnings on the forum it seems sensible topost some fact so people know what is happening. The virus concerned is the W32/SirCam@MM virus and should be taken very seriously. As I understand it the virus apears as a normal word doc or picture but actually has an extra extension to make it execute. It also hides away in the recycle bin where virus scanners do not normally check. I've added a link to the McAfee site where details of the virus can be found and how to eradicate it. Please remember that this is a new virus that will escape out of date virus scanners so dont harrass those who send it, they were probably caught out before new dat files were in place and have neough problems clearingup the mess (It sends out pictures and documents from the host computer at random when they connect to the net) If you have let your virus software data files get out of date then upgrade now, its normally free. If you need help on it email me.
