I do remember using some jamaica leaves (same thing, different name)
and having a nice result, but, like Catherine has pointed out in the
past, it depends on the dye molecule being small enough to penetrate
that first crucial layer- I'm not sure that jamaica's molecule is as
small as the henna; however, jamaica does have AMAZING staining
properties for cloth. Kind of like Pomegranate. I've always meant to
dye my hair with jamaica, but loving the drink so much, have a hard
time with the trade-off since I have a hard time finding pure jamaica
leaves. The drink is called Kirkadeh in Egypt and is served both hot
and cold and is absolutely dreamy. It has a great smell and gorgeous
colour.

: I was chatting to a woman from Bharain this evening & she mentioned
: both of these ingredients.
:
: The hibiscus is brewed in boiling water the same time as you brew
: your tea for the paste. It is added at the same time as the tea,
and
: apparently makes the stain a dark red.
:
: She also recommended using black lemon in place of regular
lemon/lime
: juice, which deepens the stain and makes it last longer.
:
: Anyone tried this?

: Anne
