Is : there any way of removing henna from the hair or at least toning the : colour down? Can you dye over henna with a conventional semi : permanent hair colour to go back to a colour similar to my own? I : have been told you cannot use anything over it because it reacts and : turns your hair blue! Are these myths or truth? : Any advice would be very much appreciated. : Thanks, Julie Years ago, before I'd ever heard of mehndi, I used to henna my hair. If I remember correctly the brand was Avagal(sp?) and was 100% natural henna with no additives. I was always warned not to use a chemical dye over it or to use it on previously chem. dyed hair. I think unpredictable color changes and damage to hair texture are both likely to occur. The sample test idea in the previous post sounds wise. I'd love to henna my hair again but have been using a semi-permanent hair color for the last couple of years. I am definately scared to see what would happen if I tried henna again. Maybe I'll do a sample test myself. I could let it grow out, but who wants mousy brown(probably gray by now) hair for six months?
