I live in a small town in Virginia and run into the same thing. somepeople are really interested in learning about mehndi, others
criticize. I ignore the criticizers and teach the interested. I
have done a few festivals around the area as well and find that it is
generally well received...even the nay sayers come buy when I'm
hennaing someone and ask questions. They would NEVER get one
themselves but it's still interesting and different to them. Just be
polite, talk to those who ask questions and let the other stuff roll
off your back.
