Once and for all... the "HENNA IS A SIN" argument

For goodness' sake... if you're going to be dogmatic about something,
AT LEAST BE WELL INFORMED ABOUT IT. He's apparently drawing his
mistaken conclusion from the snippet of a verse in the OT where it
says "do not make tattoo marks on your bodies..." They always forget
the next part: "...for the dead."
When I hear people -- it's usually men -- using that argument, I reach
over and touch the bare sides of their faces, and ask them, "What
about the next verse?"
(It says it's equally naughty to shave your sideburns.)

CONTEXTUALLY -- and context is a very big deal -- the reason those
things were issues to the Israelites is because that's what the native
groups around them were doing, and if you ever have to go to battle
with a neighboring tribe, you don't want your countrymen to mistake
you for the other guys.

So once and for all... even for Christians, so long as it does not go
against your conscience, TATTOOS AND HENNA ARE NOT A SIN.
