Hi Eskimomo,

I have never tried Shelly Black henna. I have no idea what is in it
or what it will or will not do. I hope for your friend's sake that
it is not harmful. I think most people on the forum would agree that
it is good practice to know what is in products and what the expected
outcomes are prior to putting anything onto another person. And then
to only use something that you KNOW to be harmless. When I am going
to be experimental I have a practice of experimenting on myself
rather than on someone else...no matter how willing they may be to
help. I try not to use anything on another person until I am sure
that I can reasonably expect a certain outcome. And I know that
because I have tried it over and over again on myself and know first
hand what to expect.

There is also the problem associated with calling something black
henna that may not be henna at all and if it does have henna in it,
it most certainly has some additive in it that takes it out of the
realm of "natural henna". I don't know if you are married to the
idea of Shelly products but if you are not, you can learn about
sources of natural henna right here on the forum. There are even
people here who are suppliers and would be glad to sell you something
tried and true and safe. But, you probably already know that.

You sound very adventuresome and willing to try new things. That is
a very good thing. I am sure that you will eventually find the
products that work best and most safely for you. But you might want
to try getting all the information available to you about a product
prior to putting it on yourself and most especially another person.

Anybody else ever use this Shelly Black "henna" and know something
about it? Keep us posted regarding how the stain changes and fades
on your friend.

Maureen
