As there islittle water in liquid latex. The point of having ammonia in the latex is to keep it stable until the ammonia evaporates from the latex making the latex a solid. Adding water will make the latex shrink after applying it, and it may distort the design. Also, mixing water with ammonia may have other side effects, as water contains chlorine and latex ammonia, these two components will interact with each other making a new chemical commonly known as chloramine, this is ALOT more stable than ammonia, and takes a longer time to evaporate. So drying time may be prolonged. And why buy ben nye? Just go to www.monstermakers.com if you want to order off the net, and get Cosmetic grade liquid latex, its cheaper if you don't buy a brand name.
