I usually do 3-4 coats of lemon/sugar, letting each dry in between.
Like Yvonne said, make sure your henna is dry to the touch so it
won't smear. The l/s helps keep the henna moist longer, so it has
longer to soak into your skin. It also helps hold the wrap on. I just
use toilet paper to wrap around my design & then an ace bandage on
top of that. The wrap helps hold the henna on til you're ready to
take it off and it also holds your body heat in. I don't use saran,
but it also helps keep the henna moist and keeps heat on the design.
I've found the ace bandage keeps everything in place, even with shoes
on!
